Farmstand & Farmers Markets

Our Farmstand

Real food comes from healthy soil, caring hands, and a strong sense of community

Our organic farm in Westminster, Maryland is more than a place where vegetables grow – it’s where people connect. Through our roadside farmstand, weekly farmers market booths, and local community events, we bring the freshest produce, herbs, flowers, and handcrafted goods straight from our farm to your table.

Each visit to our farmstand or market stall tells the story of our land and our values – sustainability, craftsmanship, and care for both people and planet. From the scent of just-harvested basil to the glow of a handmade candle, everything we offer reflects our belief that food and wellness should be local, organic, and full of life.

Our roadside farmstand is the heart of Harden Family Farms – a place where neighbors gather, travelers stop, and friends linger to talk about the weather, the harvest, or a new recipe. Open most days from spring through fall, the stand overflows with USDA-certified organic produce and farm-made goods, all grown or crafted right here on our land.

Each week, you’ll find something new and seasonal, such as:

  • Heirloom tomatoes, sweet peppers, and crisp cucumbers
  • Tender greens, carrots, and herbs like basil, thyme, and sage
  • Bouquets of fresh flowers – zinnias, sunflowers, dahlias, and lavender
  • Farm-fresh eggs from our happy, organically fed hens
  • Jams, fruit butters, and herbal teas made with farm-grown ingredients
  • Farm Soapery creations – handcrafted soaps, candles, and bath salts infused with our botanicals

The farmstand operates on a spirit of generosity. With our “pay-what-you-can” model for fresh produce, we make organic food accessible to everyone in our community. We also donate hundreds of pounds of vegetables each year to local partners, including the Westminster Rescue Mission, Carroll Food Sunday, and the Maryland Food Hub.

Shopping at our stand is more than a transaction – it’s a vote for local agriculture, fair food, and sustainable living. Every dollar stays in Carroll County, helping preserve farmland, support small-scale growers, and protect our shared natural resources.

Farmers Markets: Community in Every Basket

Weekends are our favorite time of year – because that’s when we hit the markets! You can find Harden Family Farms every weekend at two of Carroll County’s most vibrant markets:

  • Westminster Farmers Market – Saturdays, 8 a.m. to Noon
  • Sykesville Farmers Market – Sundays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Our booths are always filled with color and freshness – crates of produce, baskets of herbs, jars of jam, and rows of handmade soaps and candles. We love talking with customers about what’s in season, sharing recipe ideas, and connecting over the simple joy of good food.

To us, every market day feels like a celebration of community. It’s where we swap gardening tips, watch kids discover new vegetables, and see familiar faces who’ve supported us from the very beginning.

By shopping local and organic, you’re helping build a more resilient and ethical food system – one that values transparency, biodiversity, and fair prices for farmers.

Community Events: Bringing the Farm Downtown

In addition to our regular markets, we proudly participate in many Westminster community events throughout the year. You’ll often find Harden Family Farms and Farm Soapery at local favorites like the Fall Harvest Festival, the Oyster Stroll, and Miracle on Main Street. These gatherings allow us to share the beauty and bounty of our farm with even more neighbors – right in the heart of downtown.

At these events, we showcase a curated mix of farm products, including:

  • Herbal teas and spice blends made from dehydrated farm herbs
  • Farm Soapery candles, soaps, and bath salts crafted with essential oils and botanicals
  • Artisan jams, apple butter, and pear butter made in small batches
  • Fresh flowers and wreaths for seasonal décor

Participating in these community events isn’t just about selling goods – it’s about celebrating the creativity, agriculture, and hospitality that define Carroll County. We love seeing families come together to support local farms, artisans, and businesses that make our region thrive.

Growing Toward the Future

Looking ahead, 2026 will be an exciting year for Harden Family Farms. We’re expanding into additional farmers markets across Maryland and the Washington, D.C. region, including potential appearances in Mount Airy, Columbia, Baltimore, and the Capital area. Each new market gives us a chance to share our mission – real food, made with integrity – with a wider community.

We’re also growing our presence right here at home by hosting on-farm events and workshops that let visitors experience the beauty and rhythm of farm life firsthand. From soap-making and herb-drying classes to farm-to-table dinners and small concerts in our restored 1890s barn, we want our farm to be a place where people connect, learn, and celebrate the seasons together.

Our first major event, Christmas in the Country, will debut in December 2025. This festive holiday weekend will feature live music, local food, handmade gifts, and farm-fresh holiday décor – all set against the backdrop of our twinkling barn. It’s our way of inviting the community to slow down, savor the season, and celebrate the simple beauty of rural life.

Christmas in the Country will be just the beginning. In the coming years, we plan to host spring plant sales, summer open-farm days, harvest festivals, and winter pop-ups – all designed to strengthen our community’s connection to the land and to each other.
Our Values: Integrity, Sustainability, and Connection

Every decision we make at Harden Family Farms stems from our belief that farming should heal the earth, not harm it. We’re proud to be USDA Certified Organic and to use regenerative practices – compost, biochar, cover crops, and natural amendments – to build living, carbon-rich soil. Our animals are raised humanely, our crops are grown without chemicals or GMOs, and every product we make honors the land that sustains us.

When you support Harden Family Farms, you’re supporting:

  • Local food security and community health
  • Fair, ethical production practices
  • Reduced food miles and environmental stewardship
  • A stronger local economy and a cleaner planet

We see farming not only as our livelihood but as our legacy – to nurture biodiversity, protect pollinators, and preserve the agricultural heritage of Maryland’s Piedmont Plateau for generations to come.
